Hey, everyone.
This week, the Top 10 dancers are joined by famous finalists who appeared in previous seasons and make their mark again. Mr. DizzyFeet and Mrs. HotTamaleTrain are joined this week by Tara Lipinski, Olympic gold-medal-winning figure skater and 1997 World Figure Skating Champion. Not bad for a fellow Philadelphian.
After the dances, Car brings the contestants to the edge of the stage for a reveal of whether or not a dancer has been put on the list of Bottom 4 dancers. I’ll let you know at the end of the opinions if a dancer is in the Bottom 4.
Up first, Bridget was joined by her All-Star partner Brandon Bryant (and not Bubbler as I first thought) to do a dance that is a fusion of Bollywood and Disco by Nakul Dev Mahajan to "Disco Khisko (Remix)" from Dil Bole Hadippa. And it was TOTALLY WICKED!! Seeing her doing the amazing steps of both styles and mixing some together was amazing. I know Bollywood can be frustrating to do and maintain, but she pulled it off in a really great way. After her dance, it’s revealed that she is one of the Bottom 2 girls in the Bottom 4 dancers.
Tanisha was up next with her partner Ryan for a Miriam Larici/Leonardo Barrionuevo-penned Argentine Tango to "The Gaucho's Pain" by Tango Jointz. You can certainly feel the passion, power and sexy in this one, so much so, it feels like it’s slapping you in the face. The quick footwork was fantastic, and Ryan picking her off her feet (twice!) was super cool.
Tanny is safe this week. (Whew! I love her.)
Later on, Emilio and his partner Jasmine Harper perform a Hip-Hop by Tabitha and Napoleon D'umo to DJ Snake’s “Get Low”. The story here is that Emilio is a snake charmer and Jazzy is his snake. Get it? Because...DJ Snake? Anyway, Goddamn was it just...goddamn. It was just amazing. Good job, you two, especially Jasmine with that pop-locking at the end.
Sadly, Emilio was named the first of the Bottom 2 Guys. (facepalm) Nigel said if Emilio did that number last week, he wouldn’t be in the Bottom 2 this week. I definitely agree.
After the 3-minute switch, Valerie and her one-night partner Ade Obayomi performed a Tyce Diorio-Jazz to “Hearts A Mess” by Mr. Somebody That I Used to Know himself, Gotye. The judges say it wasn’t great, saying they didn’t love her performance, wanted more from her and basically said things that made the Audience boo them. I thought it was good.
Valerie is spared this week.
Rudy and his All-Star partner Jenna perform a Louis Van Amstel-Cha Cha to “Maps” by Maroon 5. I thought it was a very good dance. It just wasn’t as exciting as the others. Safe
Casey and his partner Kathtyn McCormick perform a Broadway bit to "Maybe This Time" by Liza Minnelli. It was a wonderful, jazzy, perfect dance. Safe
Next, Jessica teams up with tWitch, on this Hip-Hop dance to "U Got Me Up (Underground Goodie Mix '93). I just love this one. No more words. So I name this Favorite Dance of the Week. Safe.
Finally, Zack, along with his partner Amy Yakima do a Contemp to “Europe, After The Rain",
Oh God, this dance just touched me inside so much. The emotion and passion just oozed out of these two from the second the first step is made. You cannot not see and feel that that. This one is also my Favorite Dance of The Week. Safe,
And now the eliminations.
Safe: Zack & Jacque
Eliminated: Emilio & Bridget
Tune in next week for another review. Bye-Bye!
