Welcome to another Funday Friday, everybody.
Love can come in many places, but what if I told you that it came in the form of surnames formed to make the name of a popular fast-food chain?
Joel and Ashley, from New Berlin, IL, are grade school sweethearts. Since the fifth grade, the two have been inseparable.
So, when they announced their engagement on Instagram earlier this Spring, the Internet buzzed with excitement and glee. Not just because of the beginning of the road to marriage, but also because of their unique surnames: Burger (Joel) and King (Ashley). Even better when put together--Burger-King. They decided to flip the name because of the namesake resemblance (usually the woman's name goes first, but the switch is way cooler.)
Since then everyone's been talking about it, including the Burger King company itself. When execs read of the upcoming nuptials, they decided to take care of the payments for the wedding themselves (tux and dress, catering [mostly burgers and fries no doubt], attendees, the works)
Their story first appeared in the State-Journal Register newspaper in Springfield, and has been very well-received by many denizens in the local area. So much so, it (again) went viral.
Here is video from the newspaper's website where the happy couple learn of the company's huge contribution to their wedding. It's so sweet.
I honestly can't wait to see when the wedding comes in, and to see the smiling coupe become one. Congrats to happy Mr. & Mrs. Burger-King.
But more importantly, I can't wait to see Burger King turn this into some sweet and/or funny ad for the company on many streaming websites (like YouTube before the Skip Ad option comes in.)
