#1SW: Brothers

(This one's a little shorter than usual, but meh)

Oh boy, do I remember this show. And boy, was it terrible. Michael Strahan is in it...and it didn't really help. It's "Brothers".

Brothers stars NFL superstar-turned-actor-turned-Fox NFL Sunday analyst/Live with Kelly & Michael co-host Michael Strahan as Michael Trainor, a retired NFL player, and Daryl "Chill" Mitchell as his brother "Chill" Mitchell, a paraplegic (this after a car crash) who runs a restaurant. CCH Pounder & Carl Weathers also star as their parents Adele and "Coach". The plot is both brothers trying to bond after Mike moves to

In hindsight (because I was 15 in 2009 and didn't know enough and cared for what happens behind-the-scenes in television), I thought this was a complete waste of talent for all four actors, especially CCH and Carl. These two have been in the TV business for a long time, so to see them in this show was a big slap in the face for them and their fans.
I didn't care for Michael that much, as I think he's more of a guest-star type actor, and he's really damn good in his roles on Fox NFL Sunday and Live!, so my perception oh him changed a lot. But this isn't that show for him. Same thing for Chill; he's also a pretty good actor.
One of their weirder episodes was about one of their neighbers giving the dad a cookie jar shaped like a Mammy (or old black woman working as a housekeeper to a white family in the 1930s) and had lemon bars in it. This was one of those "two male neighbors who don't get along but are forced by their wives to bond for some reason involving them" plots that annoying, unfunny and cringing in sitcoms. The worst is in

I don't know why Fox execs at the time picked this show up in the first place, or what they saw in it. This is terrible, most jokes don't land well, the episode plots really never hold up, the humor is barely there and . The characters were likable enough to keep the show going, but it just that doesn't carry the whole thing.
I may have had interest in this when it first aired, but there's not much left anymore.
I'm glad the cast has other shows/interests in their careers to do now.

No episodes are available on YT and you'd be lucky to purchase it on iTunes.

Tune in next month for a slightly better edition with a much better and deserves-more-than-one-season choice than this. I hope to God you love it. See you next month!!
