I don't like Indiana Senate Bill 101 AKA the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
It's a law that "allows individuals and companies to assert that their exercise of religion has been, or is likely to be, substantially burdened as a defense in legal proceedings". But what the eyes of many people see it as a law brutally against the existence of the people of the LBGT community. This law is horrible. And everyone who isn't a religion nut or republican (including me) knows it's horrible.
What has homosexuality ever done to religion? I understand that marriage is usually between a man and woman, and you can't stand two people of the same gender doing things as public displays of affection (I'm with you on that one; I can't frickin' stand that myself), holding hands, spooning, or, God forbid, sex.
But here's the thing: this has nothing to do with sex. This law is forbidding gays, transsexuals, bisexuals and others from going to department stores and buying something. How can you tell who's gay and who isn't? Just because of their voice? Because of the clothes they wear? That ain't good enough. Non-straight people shouldn't be exempt from going to their favorite store or restaurant because of the sexual orientation. And speaking of straight people, I just thought of this: If a person comes to a store or restaurant, do they have to show proof that they're straight and only straight? Because that's a fucked-up way of morals.
I hope a repeal comes soon. It's extremely unfair and unjustly superfluous for same-sex people to live their lives and going to buy clothes or food or basic necessities while being brutally watched over and treated in a horribly condescending way. Just because they love someone in the same race, that doesn't mean it should define everything about them. A human is more than just sexual orientation or religion. It's also about what they contribute to the world or how they see the world.
I can only be curious as to what happens had this thing goes official: Fat people are exempt from a fast food restaurant because Gluttony is a deadly sin? Blondes can't go to department stores because Lust and Envy are big no-no's? Politicians are not allowed in office because lying, stealing and adultery break the Ten Commandments? Who knows??
