One reason the series wasn't as hit is this: it aired on third-place ABC at a timeslot dominated by televised reruns of theatrical animated shorts on a schedule of other cartoons that are alright in my book but nothing to write home about -- one starring an advertising icon asking you not to be a Pyro, one that would've been pulled by the FCC for being an ad for a toy brand [and honestly, it should've been], one about another based while also based on a popular YA myster series, and one about fighter planes and the wonderbread family who pilot them]. Basically, ABC Super Saturday was not so Super in '69. If it aired on CBS (which likely dominated the day that year including three other Hanna-Barbera cartoons that year; one guess as to what one of them is) or even NBC (which aired the reason it exists), it would've had a fighting chance and probably a second season.
Now that I think of it, if it weren't for Cartoon Network and Boomerang, the series would be lucky to be memorable and still have any history and longevity.
