Jimmy Kimmel got more human this week.
And I totally respect him for it.
On his show Monday night, Jimmy that revealed a few days earlier, his wife, head writer Molly McNearny, gave birth to the couple's second child, a boy named Billy. The host and wife were overjoyed, until hours later when a quick-thinking nurse revealed to them that their newborn son has a heart defect called -- and that his skin turned purple.
That joy turned to understandable shock and pain.
Thankfully, the baby boy survived an successful emergency open-heart surgery and is doing much better with family.
When I watched the monologue and heard Jimmy's words through his wavering voice, I teared up and wept. As a man and as an uncle myself, I felt the pain and heartbreak this man suffered. Even reading an article about his monologue made me lose it a bit. And when he spoke about the current healthcare situation (that millions of Americans will not afford any in the future), it awakened me. It's his genuine vulnerability that immediately got to me. And anyone else who had a heart too.
I like Jimmy Kimmel. I'm not a huge fan of his, and I dismiss some of his smarmy humor at times, but I still like him a lot. And when he gets genuine in his true feelings on his show sometimes, it shows he is cool, caring and humble guy. Take a look at moments from the past like after the untimely passing of his Uncle Sal, the retirement of his comedy hero (and ours) David Letterman or the passing of comedy icon Don Rickles last month, and you'll see why. He has a heart--and in the right place, and makes me happy to know he can be as human as anyone can be at the end of the day.
Unfortunately, many Republicans and Trump dick-suckers don't have hearts. Because the next day, they take Kimmel's monologue to task by criticizing him about mentioning healthcare on his comedy show and even took the sick route of ridiculing his son.
There are a lot, but please
Listen, you asswipes. You can attack Kimmel all you want; that's within your realm. But you do not go his kid. He's three days old, and already you come at his throat. How twisted and heartless can you be? Apparently, that much.
Jimmy Kimmel and his writing staff are well within their right to say whatever they want on their show, and the Healthcare issues we're facing is definitely one of them. He may be rich like you, but he has a heart, a sane mind and a voice like us. It's under the First Amendment, which you people claim you know by heart but only use when it benefits you--or you're lying and don't know what it means in first place.
None of the triggered morons cared about the baby boy or his too-early condition or Kimmel's plea to Congress and the Trump Administration for affordable healthcare for all or anyone who needs it (and some of them have families [who, if you didn't know, have KIDS]). They cared about the fact that he "brought a political issue to a late night comedy show" and mentioned Trump negatively. It shows that like Trump, these people are idiots who just easily dismiss the common problems and trials of most Americans and care about themselves, people like them and what he has to say, only to kiss his orange-tinted ass trying to notice him and fawn over him like the second-coming of Christ. And if anyone of any age even ever-so slightly criticize him for any legit issue, they'll attack and bite them off like a furless Cujo. And until they realize that--just like us--they are suffering under the thumb of this human rotten tangelo, they'll continue to do so. And when their tiny brains realize it and start to rant about the problems they face, we'll just look at them like this...
and then laugh. Like this...
and this...
and this...
aaaaand this.
Just like you did to us.
But until then...Fuck you all.
Jimmy (if you are reading this), congratulations to you and Molly on Billy and his successful start of life and your growing family. I know you'll continue to be a great dad. Don't let the assholes get you down. And thank you for taking the fight for affordable healthcare for many Americans into overdrive.
It's time we as Americans get woke and fight the government and Trump from taking away our basic human right to take care of ourselves in the most harrowing of situations. We need to work much harder to get it back in some way. We all can't afford our healthcare sometimes (they can, but they don't care); but after this vote to possibly repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare), we definitely cannot afford it. So please, do all you can to help. It's imperative that we continue our fight to afford our healthcare. And then continue it when we get it.
Now let's continue the fight.
