Hello, friends. Star vs. Review time!
Let's kick it off with an episode with our favorite 500+-year-old magic-spell-book genie with no shortage of shade and smarmy and a shortage of robe covering too little, Glossaryck. It's
Episode 12a - "Page Turner"
Our good pal Glossy's going to a major appointment.
I was ready to dismiss it as filler with a character either not a lot of people like or lots of people like in small doses. (I'm in the latter camp.)
But then, it surprised me in being really good towards the end. Glossy gave some important info, he gave a big speech in which he'll do his job his way (he sure did by breaking the), we got a nice fight scene with kicking major butt against one of the members of the HMC, and a big glimpse of: Toffee, some corn (definitely involving Ludo), Queen Moon showed up and showed worry in her daughter,,
Glossaryck has shown to be a more better character than ever before, and it's given him much more respect from me.
Star's subplot was fine. Aside from her doing what Glossaryck told her not to do, she learned a major spell by having Marc do it for her. And seeing Marco perform the spell was...well, you know. (ba-dum-TISS)
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a lot to look out for later on. And it's thanks to this really good episode based around a character we're mixed about.

--That Sean character definitely looks like he should be on Happy Tree Friends. He was pretty charming though; must be the voice.

And now from one surprisingly good episode to another.
Episode 12b - "Naysaya"
Marco wants to ask out Jackie Lynn, but a magical vestigial twin called Naysaya has been ruining his plan by openly blurting out his most embarrassing personal secrets and tics. Thanks to a dick move by Tom after "Blood Moon Ball" (and before they got on equal footing), Marc now has to get used to (for now) .
Now, we all have some tics and secrets we find embarrassing. I have several believe it or not. And in any sense, we keep them secret at all costs. And there's always that one time it's spilled by someone we know. So I guess this is relate-able in that sense. Especially when there's a girl or guy you like that you want to take out; those can be very hard.
Naysaya is very campy, very funny character--even though his purpose was to slip out Marc's insecurities. His demeanor is akin to a mean high school girl, and his delivery akin to Stewie Griffin circa after he became gay (yes, the one-year-old). But it was still entertaining to watch. Even when he ate cereal for the first time, gross as it was, it was still funny.
Seeing Marco fight Naysaya's urges to reach Jackie Lynn by revealing his embarrassing secrets was sweet and humbling. He really likes Jackie and really wants to take her out, so his determination was top-notch (and seeing Star [whom may still have that crush on him] and Janna [whom may still be stalking him] cheering him.
And so, Marco finally gets a date with Jackie and we go
This was a real good episode. I enjoyed a lot more than "Page Turner" (in the fact that I didn't hate it at first, THEN love it). It was much funnier to me, and had a plot I could relate to (in that we all have insecurities and secrets we need to be gone, not that most of us have a magical vestigial twin that reveals such insecurities and secrets like a more female Wendy Williams), and also has a satisfying ending (for both casual fans and especially Jarco/Mackie shippers--me included...at the moment).
This was a fine episode overall. Very entertaining throughout, some good character development here and there, and some more exciting plot build-up more of this season.
